Latest official statistical snapshot of Italy

Today ANSA.IT (major news wire service in Italy) offers a statistical snapshot of Italy at present (“Italians long-lived and multiethnic” Jan 12, 2010). The overview is based on a just released study from the country’s national statistics bureau, Istat.
“A snapshot of Italy in statistics released Tuesday depicted a healthy though ageing nation where immigrants represent an ever greater part of the economy but where women still struggle to make headway in the workforce.”
The Istat report covers demographic categories including employment, life expectancy, birth rates and immigration.
